Get in at the beginning. The Photo House 144 does not want or pretend to be the next great fad of gallery openings, instead it wants to remain secured in the wide world of the photographic arts. Insisting on highly talented and visually astute artists who believe in utilizing the camera to profess their own sense of individuality, 144 wants not just great photographs, but great minds behind the photographs. The Gallery is designed to help construct a community of individuals intrigued not in the commercial world of art, but in how the arts fit into our society, and the important philosophical implications of what we make and how we make it. 144 is not about selling art and over-promoting the, "Next Big Thing," it is about the creators of art, the relationship they have to their own work, and how everything attempts to fit into this world and make it (at least visually) more appealing.

Hi there,
Where is your gallery located?
We are sort of doing something similar to what you are doing on a different scale.
Stop by the studio with your prints when you are in our neighborhood.

I am renting a row house with a good amount of livingroom wall space (it is not an officially owned and recognized space), that will be a private gallery with single-night openings followed by on request private viewings. As I get started (i.e. have no separate place for a gallery) it has to remain slightly unofficial only in its organization (no permits and the like), but make no mistake that it is a wholeheartedly serious endevor.
Hi,
I certainly understand it.
When I started teaching classes, we used to have a class on a dining table. Classes were happening in my apartment.
We started small and are still small in fact. Nonetheless, we have been serious about what we do since the beginning.
A private space is a nice venue to show photographs. Photographs tend to be small (well...), so they go well with the smaller intimate space in my opinion.
You should come by one day with your prints. I will show my work too which are done in historical processes like platinum/palladium on fine art paper.
Ray Metzker lives down the street too.
Warmly,
Tsuyoshi
I like what you are doing here.
I’ve been excited by the trend in Philadelphia to recognize Photography as an important medium in its own right.
It's good to see you and others open up spaces to show it as a primary art form.
I wish you success and will plan on sending you samples of my work as I think I create the type of had crafted photography that you are looking for.
Thanks
